Senior hit by car suffers head injuries

An elderly pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday.

The accident occurred at about 9:55 a.m. on Faywood Boulevard near Bainbridge Avenue, south of Sheppard Avenue.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old woman, was conscious and breathing but bleeding heavily from the head when emergency crews arrived. She was taken to Humber River Regional Hospital's Church site.

A portion of Faywood was closed for the remainder of the morning as police from the traffic services unit investigated.
