Has your dream deck been left in limbo? Have plumbing pipe dreams got you feeling all wet? Are there more do-it-yourself projects than cutlery in your kitchen?
Maybe it's time to take your spouse's advice and ask for some help from the pros. The crew from Home and Garden Television's hit series, Disaster DIY, is looking for York's most desperate do-it-yourselfers to be featured on the program, which is heading into its third season. The casting call will be happening on Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lowe's on 1300 Castlefield Ave. Store manager Dan Harrington knows many of his customers don't like to admit to their handyman handicaps, but still expects a big turnout for the event."The show is about everyday folks that have taken on renovation projects in their homes thinking that they can do it themselves and then run into issues that cause them to walk away with it half done," said Harrington. "They just need someone professional to come in to put them on the right track and finish it off correctly."Those interested should bring photos, blueprints and measurements to the store and prepare to make a two-minute presentation to employees of the show. A handful of finalists will be selected to meet with the show's host, Bryan Baeumler, to make a lengthier pitch for their project later in the day."They are looking for something where people have taken on a project that is bigger than they can handle, have hit the block and are just stumped," said Harrington. "Or sometimes it is the case that someone in the house is upset because the project is just taking way too long. Some people get stuck on renovations for years."
