TTC driver has licence pulled after breathalyzer test

A TTC bus driver received a 72-hour licence suspension Friday, March 12, after police smelled alcohol on her breath and administered a roadside breath test.

Police allege the bus was stopped on Dawes Road near Danforth Avenue after a passenger complained the driver was taking the wrong route.

Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said the driver was not criminally charged.

TTC spokesperson Danny Nicholson said the driver is suspended without pay while an internal investigation is being conducted.

"That could take a week or two," he said. "The investigation is continuing. It's an internal matter."

Nicholson noted all employees are expected to show up fit for duty, which means not being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police didn't release the driver's name.
