With Open Arms inspired by Italy

The Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery will feature an art and photography exhibit by James C. Swartz April 1 to 30.

The free exhibit, titled With Open Arms, will be held at the gallery inside the Columbus Centre, 901 Lawrence Ave. at Dufferin Street, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Swartz drew inspiration for the exhibit from his close relationship with the Italian community dating back to childhood.

With Open Arms will feature work designed while Swartz was in Venice and Tuscany for an art exhibit in Ferrara in 2008.

Proceeds from his exhibit sales will be donated to the L'Aquila Earthquake Relief Fund.

An opening gala reception will take place Thursday, April 8 from 6:30 9:30 p.m.
