Man beaten with baseball bat during robbery

An 18-year-old man is recovering after being beaten during a robbery in northeast Scarborough Tuesday, March 9, night.

Police said three males jumped out of a car and came up to the victim at Trefoil Court and Grosbeak Crescent around 10:40 p.m. The victim was beaten with a baseball bat and robbed of his wallet, cellphone and house key.

The teen suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

He didn't know his attackers.

Det. Sgt. Sean Brosnan of 42 Division said the attack was unprovoked. "We do get a fair amount of street robberies but usually not with that kind of violence," he said.

The robbers are 17 to 23 years old. Two had long hair.

The suspect vehicle is a light blue Honda.

People with information can call 42 Division at 416-808-4200 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
