Ten students were injured after someone sprayed pepper spray in a North York school hallway Tuesday.
The incident occurred at Westview Centennial Secondary School on Oakdale Road in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue area around 10:25 a.m.
"Pepper spray was used on the first floor," Const. Tony Vella said.
Two students were taken by ambulance to hospital where they were treated and released.
Eight others were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Principal Paul Edwards said the school was evacuated. Everyone was allowed back at 12:45 p.m.
"Eventually we had the (Toronto District School Board's) health and safety team come in to do a complete disinfectant cleaning of four classroom areas, one office area and the library area," Edwards said.
An investigation revealed that two students had access to pepper spray at some point.
"We're dealing with them right now," said Edwards.
A parent told officials their child went home after the incident and disposed of the pepper spray.
Edwards said students and staff responded to the emergency well.
"There were kids helping kids, holding them and taking them to another area where that gas didn't exist."
