Two elderly pedestrians are fighting for their lives in hospital after being hit by a truck near Yonge and Maitland streets Monday, March 8.
The incident happened around 1:40 p.m. when the 49-year-old driver of a Ford cube van struck two people as he was turning left to travel southbound on Yonge Street from Maitland Street. The victims, both 77, were pinned beneath the truck.Kim McKinnon, a spokesperson for the City of Toronto's Emergency Medical Services said emergency crews treated the victims at the scene before they were rushed to the trauma unit at St. Mike's hospital.
