Man charged in string of armed robberies

A 19-year-old man is facing numerous charges in connection with the armed robbery of a Kingston Road convenience store on Saturday, Feb. 6.

The robbery happened at Glen Ames Variety, 621 Kingston Rd. at 8:19 p.m. when a male entered the store and approached the counter.

The suspect then allegedly walked behind the counter, produced a knife and removed a quantity of cash from the register before fleeing the scene. The store's 49-year-old employee was not injured.

Officers from 55 Division as well as the hold-up squad arrested Codie Donald Caissie on Monday, Feb. 8.

He has been charged with eight counts of robbing a business, six counts of weapons dangerous, one count of assault with a weapon, five counts of assault with weapon, disguise with intent, four counts of failure to comply with recognizance, and two counts of failure to comply with probation.

Investigators believe Caissie is involved in numerous other robberies in the GTA.

Police have yet to recover any of the stolen goods or cash.

The investigation is ongoing.
