A Scarborough Anglican church with ties to Haiti is offering special prayers for the stricken Caribbean nation this Sunday, Jan. 31.
St. Paul's L'Amoureaux, at Finch and Warden avenues, hosts the evensong service at 6 p.m.Offering reflection on the Jan. 12 disaster will be Rev. Ephrain Radnor, husband of St. Paul's associate priest Annette Brownlee. Both have done missionary work in Haiti and visited a school, Ecole de la Redemption, in the northern city of Gonaives. The school's parish priest, Fr. Max Accime, visited St. Paul's last May. Since then, St. Paul's congregation has sponsored 51 children in Gonaives, paying for their schooling, uniforms, shoes and a hot meal a day. St. Paul's was preparing to send a group mission to the school this March but the plan now is on hold.Children at the school and Accime are reported safe, though the priest's home in Port au Prince was destroyed.Funds will be collected Sunday for Haiti relief.
