A 35-year-old man struck by a streetcar on Queen Street early Sunday, Jan. 24, morning has died of his injuries.
The man was left fighting for his life after being struck by an eastbound Queen streetcar near Broadview Avenue, just east of Hamilton Street at about 12:30 a.m.
His death, and the death of a woman Monday, Jan. 25, on Davenport Road, brings to 14 the number of pedestrians killed on Greater Toronto streets since Jan. 12.
Police are investigating whether the victim, from Woodbridge, was jay-walking and talking on his cell phone at the time.
He was taken to St. Michael's Hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries on Monday.
The accident marked the second serious collision in a week between a pedestrian and a TTC vehicle. On Monday Jan. 18, a woman in her 50s was struck and killed by a TTC bus at the northwest corner of Eglinton and Mount Pleasant Road.
