March of Dimes offers seniors daily living help

The Ontario March of Dimes is extending its supports services to the Etobicoke neighbourhood to provide assistance to people who struggle with physical disabilities.

The Etobicoke Support for Daily Living program will offer attendant care, conductive education, assistive devices like walkers and canes, employment services and recreation to people who suffered from various disabilities.

Moreover, there are also free personal support services available for seniors over the age of 65, including light housekeeping, help with personal care and assistance with sorting and taking medication.

The Ontario March of Dimes is the largest community based rehabilitation organization in the province for people of all ages who have physical disabilities.

The organization was originally created in 1951 to help eradicate polio in Canada and was known as the Canadian Foundation for Poliomyelitis when it was formed.

The program focuses on the broader needs of adults with physical disabilities and to maximize the independence, self-confidence and social participation amongst those with disabilities.

January is the official month of the March of Dimes.

To contact the local branch of the March of Dimes, at 385 The West Mall, Unit 250, call 416-678-9718.
