Local youth and professional dancers will come together this week for the first Dusk Dances series to be held at Earlscourt Park.
Co-produced by Art Starts, the series will feature award-winning percussion group Samba Squad as well as a youth commission from Lady Noyz, who will be working with several youth from Art Starts after school break-dancing workshops.
Also featured will be a new work from emerging company Simply Swaag Dance Studio/Mixed Magik, Black Ice Step Team and pieces titled "Tenterhooks" and "Get On Board", from the Dusk Dances repertoire.
Despite the current city strike, all scheduled performances will go on as planned beginning Thursday, July 9 and run nightly at 7 p.m. through Sunday, July 12 at Earlscourt Park, located at St. Clair Avenue West and Caledonia Road. Admission is pay what you can.
Additional performances are planned at Withrow Park (south of Danforth between Logan and Carlaw) for Aug. 4 to 9, and at Chalkfarm Park (Jane Street and Wilson Avenue) from Aug. 13 to 16.
