YCS will assess flu symptoms, provide shots

Showing symptoms of H1N1 but not sure if you have swine flu?

York Community Services has been designated by Toronto Public Health as a flu assessment centre.

They will determine if you have the flu, answer any questions about symptoms, provide treatment if you've come down with the flu and refer you to other health care providers if necessary.

Flu assessment centres do not take the place of emergency rooms or provide treatment for patients with severe symptoms.

Beginning next week, the centre will also provide flu shots, for both H1N1 and seasonal flu. Everyone is welcome to get the shots, whether they have OHIP coverage or not. No appointments are necessary.

Flu shots will be given from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The assessment clinic will operate Mondays and Fridays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 7:30 p.m.

YCS is located at 1651 Keele St. north of Rogers Road.
