A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a stubborn four-alarm blaze in North York Friday, Oct. 30.

The fire started on the first floor of 3 Chedington Place near Bayview and Lawrence avenues at about 3:50 p.m.

The 12,000-square-foot home was built in the 1920s and was being used as office space.

Capt. David Eckerman said fire crews battled the blaze from the outside.

"They've pulled everyone out of the building, and they've gone defensive," he said at the time. "The conditions inside are too hazardous for the firefighters."

There were 34 fire vehicles and 90 firefighters at the scene.

The injured firefighter was taken to Sunnybrook hospital as a precaution.

There is no determination of cause or dollar loss as a result of the blaze, the fire department said.
