A body was found this afternoon in a burnt-out room in the basement of a house in the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue area.Emergency crews were called to 17 Tedder St. at 12:06 p.m.
According to police, a woman said her son burned to death in the house.
The fire appeared to have been out for some time.
"There is no active fire," Const. Tony Vella said. "We have a burnt-out room with a body inside."
Police and the fire marshal's office are investigating.
