Jambo Jam fundraiser raises money for Africa

Jambo Jam, a concert and silent auction to raise funds and awareness for Free the Children, will take place Saturday, Feb. 25 at Riverdale's Metropolitan Community Church (MCC).

The Bogani Family Coalition, which is aiming to help raise the 1.2 million dollars needed to build a high school for the Boys of the Mara, Kenya, is presenting the fundraiser.

All proceeds from the event will be directed to students and their communities in Africa.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the silent auction. The concert, which will feature Ala Bridgewater, Sterling Jarvis, Heather Bambrick, Diane Leah, the Choir of MCC Toronto and GLAD Voices, will begin at 8 p.m.

The event will also include a special address by Marc and Craig Kielburger of Free The Children.

Early bird tickets can be purchased online for $25 at www.ticketweb.ca or at the door for $30.

There will be a cash bar.

Metropolitan Community Church is at 115 Simpson Ave., near Gerrard Street East and Logan Avenue.
