The Keele Community Correctional Centre has appointed a new director.
Sherri Rousell has taken over for former director Shelley Hassard at the Keele and Dundas West streets-area facility. In her new role, Rousell says that the public's safety will remain a top priority. "The number one priority of the Correctional Services Canada is, and always has been, public safety and we will continue making that our main focus," said Rousell in an email to The Villager.The Keele site will continue to assist offenders to safely reintegrate back into the community. This means ensuring they receive any required programming or counselling, said Rousell. "Assisting them with their employment search or school programs and helping them to develop a network of positive supports to assist them while on conditional release," she said. Anyone interested in learning more about how the staff at the correctional facility do their jobs and how they keep the public safe, there will be an open house, Saturday, March 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. with opportunities to tour the facility.
