A marijuana grow operation at a Scarborough townhouse complex that police they say posed a serious fire hazard has been dismantled.
Police discovered the operation after executing a search warrant at a townhouse near Neilson Road and Finch Avenue Feb. 15."The assessment of the house revealed extensive electrical alterations that were believed to be a serious fire hazard. There were no functioning smoke detectors located," police said in a news release. "Toronto Hydro had to be contacted to disconnect the electric service to the home to remove the risks associated with the compromised electrical system."About 600 marijuana plants, with a street value of $600,000, were seized.No arrests have been made.Anyone with information is asked to call the drug squad at 416-808-6100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).- Andrew Palamarchuk
