Eleven Division police is in urgent need of school crossing guards.

A crossing guard's main duty is to ensure that all school-aged children up to Grade 6 are able to cross the street safely.

As a courtesy, guards are permitted to assist older children, adults, elderly citizens, the disabled or any other person they feel would benefit from their assistance.

Eleven Division officers are currently filling in at locations where there is no permanently assigned guard.

The salary for this position is $11.33 per hour, with a 12 per cent travel allowance and four per cent vacation pay equal to a total of $13.14 an hour. Positions are available for either regular shifts or on-call basis.

Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada; must be a minimum of 18 years of age; must have the ability to communicate in English; must pass a vision test; must provide a Certificate of Fitness from their family physician confirming that they are physically fit to carry out the duties of a crossing guard and must not have been convicted of a criminal offence for which a pardon has not been obtained. If a pardon was obtained, proof of pardon must be provided.

A security check will be conducted.
