Toronto Fire Services Chief Bill Stewart has announced his retirement.

Toronto Fire Chief Bill Stewart has announced that he will be retiring at the end of April.
Stewart, a 39-year veteran of the fire service, has been chief since May 2003. He made the announcement Tuesday, Feb. 14.
He served in the former North York Fire Department for 26 years before megacity amalgamation in 1998.
Stewart is past president of the Institution of Fire Engineers, the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association and the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
