The power's been restored at Humber College's North Campus this afternoon after a morning-long blackout that still has parts of the University of Guelph-Humber in the dark.
"Power went out at about 7:24 a.m. this morning. Toronto Hydro was on site at about 8:28 a.m. and has been working with Humber facilities to find out the source of the issue," said Andrew Leopold, the associate director of public relations and communications at the college.
Around noon the power to the college was restored, with the exception of the university buildings. The cause of the outage was not immediately available.
Classes continued as usual though some of the services on campus were partially affected. The Director of Food Services, Gobi Perumal, said coffee and tea could not be brewed but sandwiches, chips and other baked items were still available for students.
"Humber Residence is open with limited food services because residence is home to many students. Arrangements have been made to ship hot food from Humber Lakeshore Campus to Humber North Residence." he said prior to the power restoration.
A sport management student from Humber Residence, Jean Claude Carriere said he missed his class in the morning as his alarm clock didn't go off.
"I wanted to take a shower and I couldn't because there was no hot water. I wanted to check the weather and sport scores but my laptop didn't work. I want the power to come back as soon as possible," he said at the time.
Leopold said, "I think it's important to note the patience and co-operation of Humber which was terrific this morning."
The power outage at the University of Guelph-Humber is still being investigated and updates are being provided on campus.
