Break For Play Co-operative play group hosts its annual music and magic show this Saturday.
The Bloor West Kids Fest is a family focused fundraising event for the not-for-profit co-operative play group.The day will feature the Poynter Family Magicians, a bake sale and silent auction. As many as 400 people are expected to attend Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. "These guys come highly recommended," said Sarah Bentley-Taylor of the headlining act.The festival couldn't come at a better time, added the co-chair of the event."It's the middle of winter, people are looking for something to do. This is a fun activity on a Saturday afternoon."Funds raised will go towards keeping membership costs low and updating the space and the kids' toys. The Bloor West Kids Fest takes place at the Swansea Community Recreation Centre, 15 Waller Ave. Tickets are $8 at the door.Break For Play has been serving the families of Bloor West Village for the past 20 years. Break for Play Co-operative was conceived and organized by a group of interested parents in 1991, in response to the need for an affordable local program for mothers and fathers who were feeling isolated at home with young children (infants to five-year-olds).
