Soup will be served in a big way Sunday, Feb. 5 at Le Papillon on the Park restaurant in the Beach.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the local eatery's Chef Lukas Vyhnal will whip up a whopping 2,000 litres of traditional French onion soup using local onions for the Leslieville Farmers' Market's Souper-Bowl Winter Fundraiser. The soup will be kept warm on a wood-burning stove outside the restaurant. Le Papillon on the Park's infamous 'pouding chomeur', also known as caramel upside down cake, will also be available for purchasing. Donations are pay-what-you can. Supporters are asked to BYOB (bring your own bowl) and spoon. People can also bring a container or a jug to take some soup home.Le Papillon on the Park restaurant is at 1001 Eastern Ave., just west of Coxwell Avenue. The Leslieville Farmers' Market, which runs Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is set to start up again for the season on Sunday, June 3 and will run until Sunday, Oct. 28.Visit www.leslievillemarket.com or www.lepapillonopark.com for more information.
