Film screening set for Sunday

The Beach Hebrew Institute will hold a screening of Expulsion and Memory: Descendants of the Hidden Jews Sunday, Feb. 5.

This film, which will be shown at 2 p.m., is the fourth to be shown as part of the local synagogue's ongoing adult education series, Life through a Jewish Lens.

A discussion will follow the one-hour Canadian documentary, which explores the impact of the Inquisition's 1492 edict requiring conversion or expulsion of all Jews from their 1,500-year-old communities in Spain and then Portugal.

Admission is free.

The Beach Hebrew Institute is at 109 Kenilworth Ave., just south of Queen Street East.
