Second person arrested in violent home invasion

Toronto Police have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with a violent home invasion that took place in the King and Dufferin streets area on Oct. 4, 2011.

According to police, the suspects walked into the apartment of a 77-year-old man, at which point the female suspect allegedly armed herself with a 12-inch butcher knife from the victim's kitchen.

The suspects are then said to have demanded the victim pay them $5,000 and forced the man to give them his bank card and PIN number. They also allegedly stole a watch from their victim and duct taped him to a chair before fleeing.

The male suspect was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and charged with one count each of robbery, weapons dangerous and forcible confinement. The female suspect, 37, was arrested and charged with the same offences on Oct. 8, 2011.

The charges have not been proven in court.
