The Latin-style Casa Mendoza on the Lakeshore motel strip is being demolished to make way for condos and a new street.

Featured in hundreds of movies, the motel is famous for its miniature lighthouse and wooden boat.

After a decline of the strip that stretched three decades, only The Shore Breeze and The Beach motels remain standing.

Both are slated for condo development as the area becomes re-imagined for its lakefront living steps from the Martin Goodman Trail and the Humber River on the western edge of downtown Toronto.
