Foot chase leads to seizure of handgun

A man faces five charges after police seized a handgun following a foot chase.

Police said they responded to an unknown trouble call on Eglinton Avenue West just after 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16.

"During the investigation, the accused ran from the officers, engaging them in a foot pursuit," police alleged in a news release.

"Officers arrested the man a short distance away and recovered a firearm in the area of his arrest."

Saaid Mohiadin, 21, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been defaced and fail to comply with recognizance.
