The Valley Park Go Green Cricket Field project is getting fancy.
The fundraising committee is hosting the Crazy for Cricket Gala on Friday, Nov. 25 to raise money for the cricket field project.
A partnership between Valley Park Middle School, Toronto District School Board, Thorncliffe Neighbourhood office, Flemingdon Neighbourhood Services, Toronto Foundation for Student Success, and Toronto and Region Conservation, the project will bring the Don River valley onto the school grounds of the 1,200-student school.
The $1.5-million project would turn the yard of portables and asphalt into an oasis with a butterfly meadow, an outdoor amphitheatre, herb and vegetable garden, interpretive marsh, and facilities to play cricket, soccer, baseball and basketball.
The gala takes place at the Macedonian Chruch Hall at 76 Overlea Blvd. in East York.
It features performances by acclaimed comedian Sugar Sammy (Samir Khullar) and award winning pop star Farahri.
Tickets are $150 each and available by contacting the committee at vpmsgogreen@gmail.com
