Organizers of the second annual Windfest 2012 are hoping the weatherman will be calling for wind Saturday, Sept. 17 for Toronto's largest kite festival, which is set to take place at Woodbine Beach starting at noon.
The free celebration of the power of wind will feature a full roster of activities for the whole family including a kids' zone and kite flying demonstrations by expert kite fliers from across North America.
Some of this year's featured guests include members of the WindJammers International Kite Team, Toronto Kite Fliers, Gogi Kite Club, Great Lakes Kitefliers Society, Niagara Wind Riders, Royal City Fun Fliers (Guelph), New York Kite Enthusiasts, Wind Climbers (Kitchener-Waterloo), Federation Quebecoise du Cerf-Volant and the Ottawa Valley Kite Club.
Attendees will also have the chance to make their own kites and buy them during Windfest.
Further, representatives from the green energy sector will be on hand to educate the public about the importance, value and potential of wind energy.
