Liberal incumbent Mario Sergio came out on top again in York West.

With all 187 polls reporting, he had captured 50.6 per cent of the votes, winning the provincial seat he has held onto since 1999.

NDP candidate Tom Rakocevic, the assistant to city councillor Anthony Perruzza, finished second with 34.7 per cent of the votes, followed by Progressive Conservative candidate Karlene Nation with 12.1 per cent of the votes.

York West is one of the most diverse ridings in the city bounded by Steeles Avenue to the north, Keele Street to the east, as far south as Hwy. 401 and west along the Humber River.

In 2007, Sergio was easily returned to Queen's Park, garnering 55 per cent of the ballots cast on his way to victory. In 2003, his margin of victory was even larger, as he had secured nearly 70 per cent of the vote. He also won easily in 1999.

Also running in the race were Green Party candidate Joseph Rini (1.1 per cent), Freedom Party candidate Kayla Baptiste (0.4 per cent), and two independent candidates, Scott Aitchison (0.3 per cent) and Leland Cornell (0.5 per cent).
