Top contenders for the job of Toronto's mayor will visit Scarborough for one of the first head-to-head events of this municipal election year, Scarborough-Agincourt Councillor Mike Del Grande says.
The debate is scheduled at Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School on Monday, March 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.Del Grande, chair of Scarborough Community Council, said he expects candidates George Smitherman, Joe Pantalone, Giorgio Mammoliti, Rocco Rossi and Sarah Thomson to appear, plus possibly some others. So far, all but Smitherman have confirmed, he said on Wednesday, March 3.The school's auditorium, at 3200 Kennedy Rd., north of McNicoll Avenue, holds 600 people.Del Grande called the free event a chance to see where major candidates stand on important questions facing the city, which will be asked by himself and fellow moderator Scarborough-Agincourt public school trustee Soo Wong.
