Four men are dead and one remains in critical condition in hospital after they fell 13 storeys from an apartment building on Kipling Avenue on Christmas Eve.

The construction workers were repairing balconies at 2757 Kipling Ave. Thursday when the swing stage they were standing on collapsed around 4:30 p.m. According to reports, the men did not appear to have been wearing safety harnesses.

The victims' names have not been released. Representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Labour were at the scene this weekend.

Authorities did not release the name of the company that supplied the scaffolding equipment, nor the company that employed the five men.

An inquest is mandatory in Ontario when a worker dies in a construction accident.

The investigation continues.
