Bus driver assaulted

Police have arrested a man and are looking for two others after a bus driver was spat on and punched in East York Monday.

Police said a fare dispute erupted after three males got on a TTC bus near Donlands and Sammon avenues at about 2 p.m. The driver dropped the males off near a convenience store where they could get change.

The driver saw the same males northbound on Donlands a short time later and tried to bypass the stop but couldn't because passengers wanted to get off. The males got on the bus, and an argument ensued. One suspect spat on the driver while another punched him.

The suspects fled, and police were called.

Police allege a suspect pushed one of the arresting officers, knocking him to the ground. A man was arrested a short time later and was allegedly in possession of 3.89 grams of marijuana worth about $30.

Two suspects are still outstanding, police said.

Damian Buckley, 20, has been charged with assault, assault with intent to resist arrest, escape from lawful custody, possession of marijuana and fail to comply with probation.
