A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with head injuries Monday, May 12, morning after being found beaten inside a Scarborough adult video store.

Police believe the victim was assaulted during a robbery some time before 10 p.m. Sunday, when the store was supposed to close.

The front door of Super Adult Videos at 2086-A Lawrence Ave. E. was open when the victim's brother came by around 7 a.m. the following day.

"He found his brother beaten up in the back area of the store," Det. Sgt. Rick Searl said. "He was conscious. He just was dazed and confused. ... He was speaking, but he was incoherent."

The victim was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for emergency treatment.

Searl, of 41 Division, said the brothers co-own the store. "I don't know what's missing," he added. "We don't have any information on any suspects."

Searl noted there haven't been other similar robberies in the area. "Any witnesses, we'd appeal to them to come forward. Anybody who may have been in that area at the time (Sunday) night," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 41 Division at 416-808-4100.
