NORTH YORK: Caregiver's residency application approved

Juana Tejada has had her wish granted.

Tejada, a North York live-in caregiver, had had her immigration application rejected twice because she has terminal cancer. Her appeal for permanent residence has been approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, it was announced this morning.

Tejada, who came to Canada in 2003, has stage four colon cancer and had been told to leave Canada when her work permit expires in August. She had appealed to be granted permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
