Toronto police are warning the public about another attempted child abduction, this time in the Upper Beach.
The incident took place Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. near Coxwell Avenue and Hanson Street when a man attempted to kidnap a three-year-old child who was walking with her mother and younger brother.
The family was travelling westbound along a walkway just south of the railway tracks, running from Coxwell Avenue to Woodfield Road when a man, who was hiding in the bushes, reached through a gap in the fence and grabbed the little girl.
Police said he then tried to pull the child through the fence but her mother was able to kick the suspect in the upper arm and free her daughter from the man's grasp.
The suspect was last seen fleeing on the railway tracks between Coxwell Avenue and Woodfield Road.
He is described as white, five-feet eight- to five-feet nine-inches tall, 175 pounds with salt-and-pepper shoulder-length hair and a similarly coloured scruffy facial hair.
The suspect has a lazy or slightly dropped left eye and his general appearance is dirty. He was last seen wearing a navy blue or black shirt that was ripped near the right shoulder area.
He also has a tattoo on his right outer forearm between his wrist and elbow. The tattoo, which is drawn with black ink and has no visible colour, is of an eagle with one wing extended and the other folded. The eagle was possibly standing on something or there is writing beneath it.
Police are encouraging members of the public to be extra careful with their children while walking in this area.
