Arrest made in trailer thefts

A 37-year-old Woodbridge man has been charged in connection with a string of tractor trailer load thefts in Mississauga that included more than $1 million in in stolen running shoes and canned food.
Peel Regional Police's Commercial Auto Crime Bureau said today they recovered almost $1.2 million of running shoes, confectionary items, cleaning and canned food products Thursday morning at an industrial premise at 6686 Tomken Rd. The force had begun an investigation earlier this month into three tractor trailer thefts in Mississauga.
Despite the arrest made this week, police believe more people are involved in the theft ring.
Alen Elias has been charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3133.
