Re: 'South Kingsway-Queensway ramps to remain', Article, July 9.
Tamara Shephard's article regarding the South Kingsway-Queensway interchange was misleading in that most speakers spoke against the new plan and requested a look back for a way to do away with the cloverleaf to provide for a more pedestrian and bike friendly plan. There were at least as many residents speaking against the new plan even considering that Mr. Roberts (a Swansea Area Ratepayer Association member who endorsed the plan for minor modifications) was somehow able to make two deputations. It is really tragic that the council of the community with the highest percentage of car users and the lowest percentage of walkers, bikers and transit users would be given the power to decide the outcome. Sidewalks and bike lanes are simply not compatible with the cloverleaf but this council voted to invite cyclists and walkers into this free for all - like lambs to the slaughter.
