Dawson mops up for Colts

As the third running back in the depth chart for the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts, Scarborough rookie Clifton Dawson usually needs a blowout, one way or the other, to get some meaningful Sunday work.

And last Sunday was just one of those occasions with the Colts defeating host Baltimore Ravens 44-20.

After the Colts scored shortly into the second half to take a 44-7 lead, out went quarterback Peyton Manning and running backs Joseph Addai (13 carries for 32 yards) and Kenton Keith (five carries for 16 yards), and in came backup QB Jim Sorgi and Dawson.

Dawson's mop-up second-half work included seven carries for 13 yards and one reception for six yards.

The total line on the season thus far for Dawson, who played many years through the Scarborough-based Thunder rep football organization, and who split his high school years between West Hill and Birchmount Park, is 18 carries for 35 yards; and two receptions for 15 yards.
