The former principal and two vice-principals at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate have been charged with failing to report an alleged sexual assault on a female student.
It is reported that police have charged principal Charis Newton-Thompson and vice-principals Silvio Tallevi and Stan Gordon under Ontario’s Child and Family Services Act. They face a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted.
A school safety panel investigating the safety conditions at the North York high school, headed by human rights lawyer Julian Falconer, learned of the alleged sexual assault in October 2006 of a girl in a school washroom.
Since the alleged incident, six males have been charged with gang sexual assault, forcible confinement and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
There is no connection between the alleged sexual assault and the murder of 15-year-old Jordan Manners last May inside C.W. Jefferys. The police investigation continues.
