Help create world's largest QR code at Esther Shiner Stadium
North York Mirror
You can help set a Guinness World Record by building the largest-ever QR code in North York this month.
The event will see 1,369 people each holding a square of the code above their heads.
A helicopter will fly overhead and scan the code.
QR codes are used to transmit pieces of information and put them into your cellphone.
Setting a world record will be the main attraction at a family friendly event in support of Youth Unlimited (YU) in North York.
YU invests in youth through outreach programs, entrepreneur training, a girls' arts program, a summer day camp, BMX bicycle motocross programs and other activities.
Registration for the QR code attraction costs $25 but organizers are encouraging participants to raise $100 in sponsorship through the online fundraising pages at
www.theqrcode.caThe event takes place June 16 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Esther Shiner Stadium, 5720 Bathurst St. north of Finch Avenue, with the QR code happening about 2:30 p.m.
