If you are passionate about the Junction community - and local sustainable food, organizers of the Junction Farmers' Market is seeking volunteers.
The new market is set to start on Saturday, June 2. It will operate throughout the summer and early fall in the Green P lot at Dundas Street West and Pacific Avenue (Medland Avenue entrance) every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Junction Farmers' Market aims to provide local, sustainable fresh foods in ways that build community, support local farmers and businesses, and promote access to healthy food for everyone. The market committee is seeking volunteers to assist with the following duties: to set up early in the morning (6 a.m.) to block the parking lot and make sure everything is ready for the farmers; to clean up at the end of the day, since the parking lot has to be spotless and ready to use by regular patrons by 1 p.m. Other duties include greeting shoppers, tending to farmers and vendors and organizing a weekly raffle for a basket of market goods, among others.
