Choir group coming to Toronto

Bloor West Villager

Let out your inner glee - My Pop Choir is opening an additional six locations in the Greater Toronto Area, one at Humbercrest United Church near Jane and Annette streets.

A new concept in Canada, My Pop Choir was inspired by the belief that singing is transformative. There are no auditions and no solos. No musical training or singing skill is required. It was created for adults 18 years and older who simply love to sing regardless of talent or ability.

The choir is conducted by a choirmaster who teaches the group the melodies and harmonies of some of the best songs from the worlds of pop, rock, R&B and soul.

My Pop Choir operates in three 10-session terms throughout the year. Each session runs for a fast-paced 90 minutes.

The new My Pop Choir locations and start dates: Monday, Jan. 9, Toronto Lawrence Park - Lawrence Park, 2180; Jan. 10 Toronto West - Humbercrest United Church, 16 Baby Point Rd., 7 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 12 Toronto The Beach - Beach Recreation Centre, 6 Williamson Rd., 7 p.m.

Advance registration is required. For those who would like to see what the experience is like before committing to a full season, there is an option to register in advance for the first session only - called a 'Pop-In,' for $20. Registration for the full term can then be completed at the end of that session. The fee for each ten-week term is $200.
