Scadding Court Community Centre’s fundraising issues with PayPal have been resolved, with the e-commerce business going so far as to contribute to the downtown community centre’s Syrian refugee initiative.
As reported earlier this week, Scadding was using PayPal as a means of collecting payment for a fundraising dinner later this month, the money from which would go toward sponsoring at least one and perhaps two families of Syrian refugees.
Problems arose, however, when some contributors received messages stating their payment was pending, and later hearing their payment had been refused. This marked the first time Scadding Court had experienced problems of this nature after using the online payment service for a number of fundraisers.
Scadding Court contacted PayPal and after spending a few days in limbo, it appears the problems have been resolved. PayPal made a donation to the cause as a means of making amends for the payment problems.
The fundraising dinner will take place at Dim Sum King Restaurant, 421 Dundas St. W. at 6:30 Wednesday, Nov. 25. For more information on the initiative or to buy tickets, visit www.scaddingcourt.org/home2/syrian_refugee_fundraiser
