The South Etobicoke Youth Assembly (SEYA) hosts its 15th Annual RUCKUS Fashion and Talent Showcase on Saturday, June 20 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Assembly Hall, 1 Col. Samuel Smith Park Dr.
Billed RUCKUS Generations, this year’s event celebrating youth engagement will feature a showcase of the “tremendous growth and development” SEYA’s vocal group and videography team have achieved this year, as well as talent displays in the areas of fashion, design, dance, song, spoken word and much more.
“This event is going all out again this year to celebrate SEYA’s generations of youth, with amazing new talent and our seasoned stars. Every year the show grows more impressive,” RUCKUS organizers said in a statement. “These young artists are creating a strong and vibrant community.”
Hosted by SEYA youth and sponsored by LAMP Community Health Centre, Youth Arts Movement and The Remix Project, RUCKUS Generations boasts a “phenomenal” lineup, including a slam poetry performance by Shantaya James, and fashions from H&M, NISE, Day One Toronto, Spoiled Dreams and more.
SEYA is a grassroots group of active youth, who aim to inspire their peers to develop skills, interests, and knowledge in order to contribute to their community: “The idea is to empower, educate, engage and advocate for positive change.”
SEYA is currently looking for partnerships and financial support to continue providing its free programming and supports for local youth.
