A city-wide police search of Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) buildings is being undertaken this morning, Toronto Community News has confirmed.
While police remain tight-lipped about the ongoing searches across the city, Const. Victor Kwong said that, as yet, no arrests have been made.
“We will be providing a summary of everything that has taken place once (the investigation) is complete,” he said.
“The reason we don’t want to divulge too much right now is it’s an ongoing investigation, and because it’s ongoing we cannot compromise what’s about to or what might still be taking place.”
Media reports suggest police are searching TCHC common areas – including lobbies, above ceiling tiles and inside air ducts – for guns and drugs.
The searches come just five days after 15-year-old Jarvis Montaque was gunned down outside his Jamestown TCHC unit on Sunday night. No arrests have been made in his murder investigation.
