Teens charged after starter’s pistol fired during attempted robbery
Two 17-year-old youths were arrested Tuesday after an earlier attempt to rob a silk store near Eglinton Avenue and Brimley Road.
Toronto police say one of two accused who entered the store on Feb. 10 pointed a starter’s pistol (an imitation handgun) at a clerk, who managed to wrestle the weapon away.
A round from pistol was fired during the struggle, police say.
The clerk’s head was hit with the pistol, an injury requiring him to be taken to hospital, before the two youths fled the store and were arrested a short distance away.
One 17-year-old boy was charged with robbery and disguise with intent. He and a second youth also face other charges.
