Toronto’s recent winter weather woes have had a negative impact on the city’s many operations – blood collection possibly the most dire among them.
Between poor travel conditions making donation difficult, plus the forced cancellation of several blood donor clinics in the region, Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is reporting a deficit of more than 630 units of blood from Thursday to Saturday.
CBS now has a strong need for blood donors to come and help replenish its inventory. Residents who work or live near a local clinic are asked to donate if they are eligible to do so and can safely make it to a clinic.
Etobicoke donors can now attend a new regular clinic located at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 210, 110 Jutland Rd. (near Islington Avenue and The Queensway).
Upcoming clinics there include:
- Friday, Feb. 22 from 2 to 7 p.m.
- Monday, March 4 from 2 to 7 p.m.
- Friday, March 29 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
