On this Family Day Monday, youth groups from an Agincourt neighbourhood are creating free family portraits for anyone who wants them.
Formal portraits can be costly, and some local families haven’t had the opportunity to get their family picture taken, Gabrielle Slater of Glendower Demanding Change said this week.
The youth group from Glendower and BITSY (Building It To Suit Youth) decided to solve that problem with Help Portraits, the free picture-taking event on February 18.
Though its purpose is to make portraits for “people who are in need” and from the Steeles-L’Amoreaux area of Scarborough, the photographers won’t refuse anyone, and families will not have to show identification or say where they live, Slater said.
Portraits will be printed on the spot, from noon to 8 p.m. in the ground-floor community room of 2281 Birchmount Road, an apartment building between Finch Avenue and Glendower Circuit.
