Man arrested in string of bank robberies

East York Mirror

Toronto police arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday and charged him with the robberies of five banks along Danforth Avenue and one in Scarborough’s Eglinton Square, a mall at Victoria Park Avenue.

The robberies all occurred between the previous Friday, Feb. 1 and Monday, Feb. 4.

Police had described each robbery as the work of one man who fled with some cash.

A bank on the Danforth was robbed on Feb. 1, three were robbed the next day and one on Feb. 4, police said.

In each case, the suspect was said to have approached employees with a note and demanded cash.

At a bank in Eglinton Square on Feb. 4, however, an employee refused to hand over money and the robbery was unsuccessful.

Scott Critch, 30, is facing six robbery charges.
